  1. Amharic Level 1 Foreign Language Class at the San Jose Learning Center

    December 12, 7:45 PM - 9:15 PM

    Amharic Level 1 is for very beginners and you will start by learning the Amharic alphabet. This will help you master the correct way to pronounce and write the characters. Then you will be introduced to words and phrases that are common in daily use. You will count in Amharic as well as learn the names of days, months, colors and the like. Simple verb conjugation follows to lay foundation for understanding Amharic sentence structures. Towards the end of the course, you will feel confident to construct simple sentences. There is no book required for the class, as all handouts will be provided by the instructor. Classes meet once a week for 7 consecutive weeks. Class size minimum is 3 people; please refer to the SJLC Policy page for details!

  1. Neighborhoods Commission Meeting on the Police Chief Recruitment

    December 12, 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM @ Evergreen Community Center

    The Neighborhoods Commission will be holding a community meeting to provide commission and public input regarding the City of San José Police Chief recruitment. You are encouraged to share your input regarding the ideal qualities that the City Manager should consider to incorporate those perspectives into the recruitment and selection process.
