The Japanese Friendship Garden received a donation of two water filtration systems, valued at $15,184, from the San Jose Parks Foundation. During the 2017 floods, the koi pond, its pump, pump room and equipment sustained heavy damage. One hundred and ten koi fish were immediately rescued and relocated to a temporary holding pond until their permanent homes can be repaired. The donated filtration systems will combat algae growth and provide a filtered, aerated and UV treated habitat for the koi fish. Donations to the restore the iconic Japanese Friendship Garden can be made online. For more information, please contact Justin Long, PRNS Deputy Director, at 408-793-5579.
