Housing Department Soliciting Applicants for Development Officer in Grants Management

The San José Housing Department is seeking an energetic, professional, self-starting Development Officer to oversee grant and contract administration with nonprofit agencies and City programs. The Grants Management Team administers an annual budget of approximately $14 million in funding to nonprofit agencies for delivery of priority services to San José low-income residents. The funds are also used to support development of affordable housing, housing rehabilitation, and City capital projects for infrastructure and neighborhood improvements.  Grant sources include federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), federal HOME Investment Partnership Fund (HOME) program, federal Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG), federal Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA), City General Fund, City Housing Trust Fund, State General Fund, one-time funds, and other sources.  This management position, which will supervise two Analysts, will specialize in the HOME program. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory experience and solid experience working with City Council offices and committees, with local nonprofit agencies, with HUD grant programs, and with City contract administration procedures.  This person should foster a positive and inclusive work environment for everyone, ensuring that diversity and inclusion considerations are incorporated in the decision making process.
