Due to poor air quality conditions associated with the Ferguson Fire in the Yosemite area, the Tuolumne Health Department issued a Health Advisory for residents and travelers in the areas affected by the wildfire smoke. As a result of this, the Department of Parks, Recreation Neighborhood Services Family Camp at Yosemite closed early this season on July 31, one week before the official August 5 closing date. With the fire continuing, currently at only 38% contained, staff has temporarily suspended post season activities and evacuated staff, due to the poor air quality, road closures, and on-going Cal-Fire operations. While the fire is still several miles from the camp, the Ferguson fires have consumed 91,000 acres of land in California’s Tuolumne County.
