San José Receives International Planning Award for Three Creeks Trail

The City’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services received a prestigious award at the 2019 International Trails Symposium held in Syracuse, New York. The Department’s Three Creeks Trail received the Advancing Trails Award in the Trail Planning & Design category. The project opened in August 2018 and provides 0.9 miles of paved trail from Minnesota Avenue to Coe Avenue. The project was recognized for its approach toward interpreting the City’s agricultural and canning history using landscape and architecture. Trail visitors enjoy a large iris garden, a sliced locomotive, and a 30’ tall water tank labeled with a giant “3”.  Additionally, Yves Zsutty, PRNS Division Manager, presented on the Value of Creativity in Trail Development at the symposium. For more information, contact Nicolle Burnham, PRNS Deputy Director, at 408-793-5514.
