The City of San José is opening specific community centers for extended hours to provide relief from the Winter cold. While neither the low temperatures nor the rain showers by themselves constitute a threat to human life, the combination of the two is dangerous to human health. Hypothermia is the most likely threat. There is the additional problem that residents who try to warm their homes using candles, bar-b-que grills, etc. may start a house fire. If you need a place to warm up, the following centers will be open to the public. See Media Advisory
