Resources for Businesses

Guadalupe River and Park Gardens

Good environmental management — things like recycling, energy conservation, pollution prevention, and green procurement — can improve your bottom line, reduce risks and give you a marketing edge in one of the Country's most environmentally-conscious counties. San José offers several programs that can help you get started.

Construction & Demolition Diversion Deposit Program (CDDD)
CDDD is San José's incentive program to encourage the recovery of C&D debris. Find forms, rates and exemptions, certified facilities and more.

Energy Efficiency Programs

Green Procurement
The City of San José's Environmentally Preferable Procurement Policy may serve as a model to help your own business address the environmental aspects of the goods and services it buys. Find information to help you green your business.

Recycling Support
San José businesses may get free deskside paper recycling boxes or mini-garbage cans for their office recycling program by contacting their solid waste hauler.

Plan Checks
All new restaurants and food service facilities or remodels require wastewater plan checks to determine the proper sizing of grease removal devices. Other types of new facilities or facility remodels may also need wastewater plan checks. Schedule an appointment for a plan check or download forms.

Pollution Prevention
Complying with environmental regulations is the right thing to do and makes good business sense from a risk management standpoint. Find out how to schedule a presentation for your employees on environmentally sound business practices.

Recycled Water
South Bay Water Recycling serves over 500 customers in the cities of Milpitas, Santa Clara and San José with an economical, safe, and reliable water supply. Get the facts on uses for recycled water, health & safety and how to get connected.

Trees and Landscaping
The Urban Forest of San José, estimated to be comprised of over 1,000,000 trees on private and public property, provides great beauty, shade and environmental benefits to Santa Clara Valley. The purpose of this site is to help San José residents navigate the various issues related to trees in our Urban Forest and determine how to contact the right City or County office for help.
