Garden and Yard Chemicals

Closeup photo of a lawnThe Issue

Garden and yard chemicals poured or rinsed down drains and stormdrains pollute our creeks and Bay. Rain and overwatering can wash chemicals off lawns and gardens into stormdrains.

What You Can Do

Reduce the use of toxic pesticides and landscape chemicals. Use pesticides and weed killers only when absolutely necessary and choose the least-toxic product available. Dispose of empty containers properly and recycle unwanted chemicals through Santa Clara County's Household Hazardous Waste Program. Never rinse pesticides or other landscape chemicals down the sink or stormdrains.
