Acute and Chronic Nickel Toxicity:
Development an Acute-to-Chronic Ratio for West Coast Marine Species

This study obtained acute and chronic nickel toxicity data for three west coast marine species, to augment the national EPA database of marine ACR values. Sensitive, ecologically important species were selected from three diverse phyla. Critical life stages of these organisms were exposed to nickel for extended periods to estimate chronic toxicity. This data was used to re-calculate site-specific nickel criteria for lower South San Francisco Bay, although the data have application to the entire S.F. Bay and to national criteria for nickel.
