CLASS PURPOSE

   Under close supervision, learns to perform specialized technical work utilizing automated law enforcement systems, including complex data input and retrieval processes requiring extreme accuracy. Performs related work as required

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   Incumbents of this class are assigned to the Operations Support Services Unit for a minimum six-month probationary period followed by six months of on-the-job performance. Incumbents learn to accurately process varied police data and identification information, utilizing a full range of specialized, automated, and manual information systems. The focus of this class is on learning to use computer systems and perform technical functions to support police officers. This class differs from Police Data Specialist II in that the incumbents of the latter class perform at a journey level and participate in training employees in this class

   High school completion or GED certificate.
