CLASS PURPOSE
   Under supervision, leads and performs assignments of moderate difficulty in observing, counting and recording traffic data. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
   This is the second level in a two class series. Incumbents perform the more varied and complex traffic data gathering/recording duties and may provide lead direction and training to less experienced Traffic Checkers. Positions in this class report to an Engineering Technician responsible for the traffic checking function. Traffic Checker II differs from the lower class of Traffic Checker I in that the latter are assigned projects of less scope and difficulty and receive lead guidance from the former.

Training and Experience
   Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of high school and one (1) year of experience at the level of Traffic Checker I.

Licenses/Certificates
   Possession of a valid California driver's license.
