Mayor's Budget Message
Every year, the Mayor presents a series of budget recommendations in his March and June Budget Messages. These proposals, which must be approved by the City Council, provide the strategic direction for developing a balanced city budget.
In his budget messages, Mayor Reed has focused on growing revenues faster, controlling city expenses and becoming more efficient in the middle to close the city’s enduring budget deficits. Mayor Reed has also implemented a community budgeting process to ensure that the city budget reflects the community’s top priorities, like public safety and other core services.
