AUDITOR'S OFFICE STAFF

RENATA KHOSHROO, Senior Program Performance Auditor

Renata joined the City Auditor’s office in January 2009 after more than six years with the Office of the City Auditor in Palo Alto, California. In Palo Alto, she was part of a small, high performing team that won a series of Knighton awards from the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA) for audits that improved the efficiency and effectiveness of Palo Alto government. Renata authored two of those award-winning reports, Audit of Library Operations (2007) and Audit of Parks Maintenance (2005).

Renata also played a key role in developing Palo Alto’s first annual Service Efforts and Accomplishments (SEA) report in 2003, which was recognized as a pioneer in local government performance reporting and has also been recognized in multiple years with the Association of Government Accountants’ (AGA) Certificate of Excellence in SEA Reporting. Prior to working in Palo Alto, she worked for Harvey Rose Associates, the contractual budget analyst and management auditor for the City and County of San Francisco. She also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers where she conducted internal and financial statement audits of financial services firms.

Before working in auditing, she worked for the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana, a non-profit dedicated to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of state and local government. She authored a report, Louisiana Sunshine Laws: Guaranteeing the Citizen’s Right To Know, which won an Effective Citizen Presentation award from the Governmental Research Association (GRA) in 1998. She was part of a team that authored a middle-school textbook on state government, Your Louisiana Government: An Owner’s Manual that won a 1999 GRA award for Most Original Presentation. Renata began her career as a journalist covering local government in suburban Boston.

Renata has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Boston University and a master’s degree in public administration from Louisiana State University. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a California-licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
