SERVICE EFFORTS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS (SEA) REPORT

In early 2009, our office published its first ever Annual Service Efforts and Accomplishments Report. The report is intended to be informational. It will provide data about the costs, quality, quantity, and timeliness of City services. It will include a variety of comparisons to other cities, and resident survey results. Our goal is to provide the City Council, staff, and the public with an independent, impartial assessment of past performance to strengthen public accountability, improve government efficiency and effectiveness, and support future decision making.

In April 2009, the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) awarded the City of San José the Gold Certificate of Achievement in Service Efforts and Accomplishments Reporting for its first SEA Report. The Gold Certificate of Achievement is AGA’s highest level of award and reflects the City of San José’s success in fulfilling the Government Accounting Standards Board’s (GASB) suggested criteria for reporting performance information.

In September 2009, the Auditor’s Office issued a reportPerformance Management And Reporting In San Jose: A Proposal For Improvement” related to the SEA.
