America's Crown Communities Award
In the area of Public Safety for the City of San José Street Smarts traffic safety education program, presented by American City and County Magazine at the National League of Cities conference in Charlotte.  This national awards competition recognizes excellence in public programs and services.

Award of Distinction
In the category of Public Safety, presented to the City of San José Street Smarts Program by the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO).  This statewide awards competition recognizes public sector programs and services from throughout California

Best Workplaces for Commuters
Recognizing the City's efforts to provide employees with commuter benefits that aid in improving traffic congestion and air quality.  Presented by the Bay Area's Best Workplaces for Commuters Coalition.  

WesternITE Editorial Award
Presented to the City of San José from the Institute of Transportation Engineers (District 6) for the paper titled, "San José Gets Street Smarts,"  published on the cover of the April 2005 issue of WesternITE Magazine.
