For the 8th executive year, the San Jose Downtown Association and their partners, Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation and Hawaiian Airlines, will be hosting the South Bay’s largest outdoor skating rink through the holiday season. People of all ages are welcome to experience the outdoor skating rink at the Circle of Palms between the Fairmont Hotel and San Jose Museum of Art.

The City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Burning Man Project present Sonic Runway by Rob Jensen and Warren Trezevant as the first artwork selected for the Playa to Paseo initiative.
Sonic Runway is a light-art installation that visualizes the speed of sound. The artwork is 432 feet long and stretch across a city block between 4th and 5th streets in front of San José City Hall, 200 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA 95113.
Sonic Runway converts audio signals into a pattern of lights that shoot down a corridor of arches at the speed of sound, (1235kph /767mph). Live audio input is analyzed and converted into intricate patterns that shoot down the corridor with sound and lights in sync.
The artwork can be be viewed nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. through January 2018.

Learn the best practice steps and approaches to enhance the energy performance of existing buildings to Zero Net Energy. This workshop will look at retrofit opportunities in individual buildings and how advanced benchmarking can help prioritize opportunities across an energy portfolio. We'll review technologies, case studies, approaches, processes, and portfolio project prioritization methods. The training will address operation and maintenance considerations, including energy monitoring for ongoing building performance.
