  2. Downtown Ice 2016/2017

    November 18, 2016 - January 16, 2017 @ Circle of Palms

    For the 7th executive year, the San Jose Downtown Association and their partners, Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation and Hawaiian Airlines, will be hosting the South Bay’s largest outdoor skating rink through the holiday season. People of all ages are welcome to experience the outdoor skating rink at the Circle of Palms between the Fairmont Hotel and San Jose Museum of Art.

    Together with the Downtown Ice and Christmas in the Park, the Winter Wonderland offers a whole section of holiday attractions for the entire family. Everyone can enjoy amusement rides and an arcade of fun and entertainment at the event.

    Hosting its sixth annual Fiesta Navideña, the School of Arts and Culture welcomes everyone to come to the neighborhood family celebration to see an exhibition of student’s work and to see them participate in a culminating recital.   1. Downtown Ice

    November 18, 2016 - January 16, 2017 @ Circle of Palms

    Hawaiian Airlines, Kristi Yamaguchi, and her Always Dream Foundation partner with the San José Downtown Association to produce the Hawaiian Airlines / Kristi Yamaguchi Downtown Ice, presented by Sobrato Organization rink. Yamaguchi, the 1992 Olympics figure skating gold medalist, will help with opening celebration on November 23rd at 5:00 p.m. at the rink. In general, during November, early December and after the holidays in January, Downtown Ice is open 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 5:00 p.m. – midnight on Friday; noon-midnight on Saturday; and noon – 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. During the winter break, the rink is open 11:00 a.m. – midnight daily. Admission is $15 for children 10 & under and $17 for skaters 11 & older. Those who bring their own skates will be admitted for $10.

    The San José Public Library’s Maker [Space]Ship is a custom built, state-of-the-art mobile makerspace. This one-of-a-kind lab will provide hands-on programming, which will empower people through meaking and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning. The Maker [Space]Ship is an innovative mobile workshop which overcomes access barriers in San José to foster creative ideas, connect people with technology, and encourage problem-solving, collaboration, and discovery.
