  1. 7th Annual Crime and Gang Prevention Summit

    February 28, 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM @ Mt. Pleasant High School

    The Mayor's Gang Prevention Taskforce presents the 7th Annual Crime and Gang Prevention Summit on Saturday, February 28th from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant High School. Youth and families are all welcomed to join this free event. The summit will feature informational workshops, a community resource fair, children's activities, and a free lunch for participants. Workshop topics include: Gang 102 & A Way Out, Mayor's Gang Prevention Task Force: Proving It Works, We're All In It Together: Servicing Our Youth & Families, The Power of Multi-Media (Youth Voice Initiative & Youth Digital Arts), and Re-Entry: The Process of Coming Home. Fabian Debora, a counselor and mentor with Homeboy Industries will discuss the importance of finding employment and job training skills for our youth as part of the keynote address. Please RSVP online by Tuesday, February 24, 2015.

  1. Initial DACA Workshop

    February 28, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Consulate General of Mexico

    This free workshop is for individuals applying for DACA for the first time. Immigration attorneys and BIA accredited representatives will provide free eligibility screenings, application assistance, review & mailing. FINANCIAL SUPPORT WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE ELIGIBLE

  1. Free Tax Preparation Assistance (VITA)

    February 28, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Seven Trees Branch Library, FLC Classroom

    IRS certified volunteers are available to provide free tax preparation help.

  2. VITA Tax Preparation

    February 28, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ West Valley Branch Library

    VITA offers free tax help to hard working individuals and families whose income is less than $53,000. Assistance is available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese at most locations. All locations provide e-File. Volunteers are trained to prepare basic 2014 Forms 1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 with Schedule A, B, limited Schedule CEZ, C and California Income Tax Returns ONLY! You also CANNOT be filing as "Married, Filing Separate returns".

One Day Volunteer Events

  1. 3 Creeks Trail: Community Clean-Up

    February 28, 8:45 AM - 12:00 PM @ 3 Creeks Trail, at Coe, in Willow Glen Between Bird and Lincoln Avenues

    Come help the environment as we remove invasive weeds, spread mulch in order to prevent new weed growth, trim bushes and pick up litter. Training and tools provided! Wear clothes that can get dirty, closed-toe shoes and bring your own filled water bottle!
