    This special event will include community and vendor booths, live music, kids' games, a parade, food trucks, and a fireworks display. The Fun Festival begins at 2:00 p.m. with the fireworks getting underway at 9:15 p.m. The festivities are free, so come out and enjoy the 4th of July fun!

There will be up to 100 exhibitors with awesome fun things to do. There will be live music, gourmet food and free admission and parking!

    Have fun while you learn to paint! The painting and original artist will be here to show you step by step how to create a gorgeous painting. You will receive a blank canvas, paints and brushes.   1. 4th of July Fireworks Displays

    July 4, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

    There are several large-scale professional fireworks shows that are scheduled for Saturday, July 4 in San José.

    1. Downtown Rotary of San Jose brings back a fireworks show to downtown's Discovery Meadow, 180 Woz Way. The show begins around 9:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to take public transit. The City of San José is among the event sponsors. Visit www.rotaryfireworks.org for more details.

    2. July 4th Fun Festival & Fireworks Show, Almaden Lake Park: the festivities begin 2 p.m. with entertainment, food, and kids' activities. The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m. Read more...

    3.San Jose Municipal Stadium: A fireworks display follows the Independence Day game between the San Jose Giants and Visalia. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. Visit San Jose Giants website.

  3. Training for CAP Grant Application Process

    July 16, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ San José City Hall, Wing Rooms 118-120

    A training class for the Community Action and Pride (CAP) Grants Program, Cycle 29. application process will be held on Thursday, July 16 at San José City Hall, Wing Rooms 118-120. This training is for City of San José neighborhood groups that may be interested in applying for a CAP grant.

    Training will cover the application process, grant process and any changes in CAP Grant Cycle 29. Seating is limited to the first 40 people who sign up. Please RSVP in advance of the training.

    The grant application period ends on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 4 p.m. The grant funding amounts will range from $300 (minimum)-$1500 (maximum) per organization.

  1. Volunteer at the Municipal Rose Garden

    July 11, 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Municipal Rose Garden

    The roses are beautiful, but in order to keep them blooming, we need to deadhead each spent rose bloom! Please join us for this community service project. Training and tools will be provided--come learn about deadheading at the Rose Garden! The roses love the direct sunshine, but people wilt! Please note our 8:00 AM start time, as it is cooler in the early morning. A hat and sunscreen are recommended. Please bring your own filled water bottle. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Long sleeves and pants are recommended, as roses are naturally thorny.

Lake Almaden is a good spot for the beginner to catch largemouth bass catfish, carp, and bluegill. You will need to provide your own pole and bait will be provided. The instructor will provide information on which bait to use and the proper fishing techniques and then you will be ready to move on to bigger fish!
