  1. Musical Swings in San José

    August 4, 10:00 AM - October 2, 10:00 PM

The musical swings are coming to San José!

The Swings is an interactive installation that offers a fresh look at the idea of cooperation, the notion that we can achieve more together than separately. Each swing in motion triggers different notes, all the swings together compose a piece, but some sounds only emerge from cooperation.

When your swing moves in time with nearby swings, you'll be making music. It's a free event for the whole family. The City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs and Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services are among the many sponsors.

    The swings are open daily 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. August 4 - October 2, 2016.

  2. Tour of St. James Park and Community Forum

    August 26, 12:15 PM - 3:00 PM @ St. James Park

St. James Park is a seven-acre public park located in Downtown San José. The City is considering physical and use changes to renew the park from an under used public space to a vibrant, attractive, and active park that includes a performing arts pavilion (Levitt Pavilion).

The final design of the park will be a result of a Design Competition sponsored by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services.

The purpose of the Park Tour and Community Forum is to provide an opportunity for the four finalist design teams selected to participate in the competition to experience the park, understand its history, and learn from the community about topics related to the park that matter to them (i.e. current and future park use, likes/dislikes, community safety, etc.).

The park tour is from 12:15 p.m. and the community forum, that's open to the public, is from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
