The City Manager will be releasing her proposed operating budget on May 1st. The City of San Jose continues to provide several opportunities to solicit community input in the budget process. In the coming months, there will be a series of public meetings and study sessions where the City Council will discuss the upcoming year's budget. For more City budget information, please click here. Councilmember Chu invites you to attend the community budget meeting to learn more about the recommendations in the proposed budget. The majority of the meeting time will be open for residents to ask questions and provide feedback.

San José City Hall and other City offices will close on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. All City offices will reopen on Tuesday, May 28. The Police and Fire Departments, along with other critical City services, will remain unaffected by the closure.

After hearing the comments received at the January community meeting, Councilmember Chu asked the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services to consider alternative locations to bring forward to the community for feedback. On Thursday, May 30th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Councilmember Chu invites you to join the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services at the Berryessa Branch Library to learn more about the proposed dog park to be located at Piedmont Road and Penitencia Creek Road. The Veterans Career Fair will provide veterans access to hiring employers and resources. Over 40 Silicon Valley employers and resource agencies are expected to attend, including Facebook, NVIDIA, Oracle, Brocade, and PG&E. The agenda includes all-day Employer Workshops designed to relay the most current information related to our military job seekers, including hands-on training and in-depth discussions about the challenges and benefits of hiring and retaining veteran talent. These workshops will be held in the Wing Rooms and Council Chambers. Admission is FREE to any and all military job seekers of every, branch, era & conflict, regardless of disability. Please note: The career fair, resume review sessions, and information sessions are scheduled to run throughout the day. Registration is recommended. You may sign up for resume review before the event when you register or at the event on a first-come, first serve basis.

During this session, the instructor will explain the new duct testing rules for change-outs of HVAC systems. He will also demonstrate a duct test. The demonstration will focus on the relatively easy test to perform for compliance with the current Title 24 Standards This is an entry level course intended for residential HVAC installers and service technicians.

When properly applied: occupant safety, building durability, indoor air quality, comfort and energy savings all take place together. When done individually, they may help, hinder or put your client?s health or home in danger. This class in open to those involved in remodeling residential properties.
