SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT  UNVEILS
INTERIM ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS  PROGRAM

San Jose, CA – With public comments from a recent series of community meetings discussing Airport Roadway Improvements and the proposed Centralized Terminal Concept, San Jose International Airport Staff developed an Interim Roadway Improvement Program to ease traffic flow. These measures are temporary as the completion of Route 87 in late 2003 will change the access points to the Airport.

The following interim roadway improvements have been completed:

Alternative Passenger Drop Off with Free Shuttle. For your ease and convenience, the Airport
has a special passenger drop-off zone with free shuttle so that you can avoid driving into the terminal
areas. The passenger drop-off zone is located on Martin Avenue, between Coleman and De La Cruz.

Southbound Route 87 (Guadalupe Parkway) to westbound Airport Parkway. The right hand turn
lane is closed and traffic is directed to Skyport Drive entrance to the Airport.

Airport Parkway and Airport Boulevard intersection. Two improvements have been made:

1) Westbound Airport Parkway into northbound Airport Boulevard heading to Terminal A will not
have a dedicated right hand turn. Right turns will stop at the light. 2) One additional northbound
Airport Boulevard lane to Terminal A has been added.

· Cut through lane south of Terminal A garage. This lane will be controlled during heavy
traffic periods. Lane will be for shuttle buses and taxis only and motorists will be directed past
Terminal C to leave the Airport or return to Terminal A.

· Access to Highway 101. New signage directs motorists to access Highway 101 by exiting the
Airport at Coleman Boulevard using 880 or De La Cruz Boulevard. Airport staff is making plans to present an updated Airport Access Plan and proposed Centralized Terminal Concept to San Jose City Council in late August. The first Airport Improvement Program project, 30R Runway, is nearing completion.
Located just two miles north of downtown San Jose, San Jose International Airport is a self-supporting
enterprise, owned and operated by the City of San Jose. Passenger totals in 2000 exceeded 13 million.
