Mineta San
José International Airport
Makes Change To Hourly Parking Lot Rates
San José, CA --- Effective today, Norman Y. Mineta San José
International Airport (SJC) has changed the hourly rate structure for
the Airport’s public parking lots. Hourly parking rates went from
$1.00 per 30 minutes to $1.00 per 20 minutes. The maximum daily rates
remain at $30 per 24 hours in the short term parking lots and $15 per
24 ours in the long term parking lot.
The Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) directive allowing
only ticketed passengers beyond security checkpoints has changed the way
meeters and greeters pick-up and drop off travelers, causing them to spend
less time at the Airport. This change in behavior, the resulting revenue
shortfall, along with significantly increased security costs, made this
rate change necessary. The new hourly rates make the cost of short term
parking rates at SJC comparable with Oakland International Airport, but
still less than short term rates at San Francisco International Airport.
The Airport maintains over 3,000 spaces in two convenient short term
parking facilities and one long term parking lot with 4,100 spaces available.
The Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport is owned
and operated by the City of San José.
