BusinessWeek Special Issue Features
San José/Silicon Valley in This Week

Mayor Gonzales, high-tech execs in publication partnership

San José, CA ---- San José Mayor Ron Gonzales and Silicon Valley high-tech executives announced the publication of a special edition of BusinessWeek, hitting the newsstands this week, that features the strengths and advantages of San José and Silicon Valley as a critically important economic region for the nation.

BusinessWeek worked with Mayor Gonzales and Silicon Valley companies to develop the special issue that focuses on the innovative business culture of this region and on major companies that continue to lead technology and new product development.

Local companies that worked in partnership with San José for the June 9 BusinessWeek issue include eBay, Adobe Systems, WebEx, BEA, and Upshot.

“This is a perfect opportunity to tell the nation’s business leaders about all the good things happening in San José,” said Gonzales. “Silicon Valley’s creativity and energy have already created several revolutions in the way we live and work, and many more to come are being invented right now in our region’s labs, garages, and networks”

According to BusinessWeek, Silicon Valley offers unique advantages for business development, including excellent current opportunities to obtain world-class commercial real estate, a highly skilled and innovative work force that produces double the value of any comparable area, and excellent quality of life.

The mayor also noted that the City of San José is committed to working with businesses to help them to create jobs, support the community, and invest in future prosperity.

“We must get out of the way so businesses can do what they do best,” he said. “That means we will eliminate barriers, streamline our systems, and fight regulations that could make our city less competitive for business.

“In addition, we must continue to create a community that’s good for employees to live in and a business environment that helps companies of all sizes succeed. In San José we consider business as an essential partner in our community’s long-term health and prosperity.”
