San José, California - The City of San José Office on Child Care announces the Fourteenth San José Children's Faire: Take Time to Feel Fine! The Children's Faire is the highlight of the San José Annual Month of the Young Child celebration held every April.

The 2002 faire, Take Time to Feel Fine! is focusing on the health and safety of the whole child, from dental care to the importance of play. Over 60 children's activity booths will be sponsored by local child care center and family care home professionals, as well as organizations such as: Santa Clara County Public Health, Blue Cross State Sponsored Programs, the Tooth Mobile, the San José Crime Prevention Unit, and the American Lung Association.

Resources for Families & Communities and the City's Anti-Tobacco program are sponsoring onstage performances by the Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre Program and others. Parents and guardians can pick up lots of important information and learn about local resources while the kids, ages 2-12 years, have a blast!

Additional fun at the Children's Faire includes:

  • The Sharks Fire Engine, Public Library Info-Bus (return those overdue materials!), City of San José Park Rangers,
  • three inflatable fun jumpers, a gymnastics demonstration, and
  • free give-aways such as bicycle helmets, tooth brushes, and coloring books, while they last.

The Children's Faire is a part of the San José Month of the Young Child celebration, which strives to raise the awareness of the needs of families with young children, particularly the need for quality early childhood education. The Faire is an annual tradition that provides the opportunity for families to spend time learning and playing together without spending money.
