“Coyote
Valley Artists”
Showcase Art in Downtown San José
San José, CA ---- To encourage the
local arts community in Downtown San José, the San Jose Redevelopment
Agency is hosting Coyote Valley Artists, an ad hoc group of 10 local artists.
The artist’s interpretations of Coyote Valley will be located for
the next two months at 108 Paseo de San Antonio, the glass kiosk across
from the Repertory Theatre.
Coyote Valley Artists art gallery coincides with the Saturday Art Market,
an event that is part of the public space programming. The exhibit will
be open at 12-5 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month with some Coyote
Valley artists present – September 14, October 12, and November
9, and by appointment.
“We are really fortunate that this opportunity came our way and
I thank the San Jose Redevelopment Agency for giving us the opportunity
to show our work in Downtown,” said Evelyn Delgado, an artist and
spokesperson for the artists. “I hope that our example of painting
landmarks and areas in and around San José will bring enthusiasm
to other artists to do the same.”
The series of paintings were envisioned by artist Charles Muench who
proposed a “paint out” to capture the beauty of Coyote Valley.
Word spread amongst artists who traveled to Coyote Valley to document
the site during the year-round seasons. The artists were drawn to the
open space and preserved the rural landscape in oils, acrylics, pastels,
and watercolors.
For appointments and information about other days the art gallery will
be open to the public, contact the Downtown Information Center at (408)
277-4689.
