Airport Expects Peak Holiday Travel for Memorial Day Weekend

Facilities will be further strained with impact of holiday travelers

San José, CA - During this Memorial Day weekend, the traditional start of the summer travel season, the Airport is expected to have the highest number of passengers traveling since last September. Airlines are showing high passenger levels from Thursday, May 23, through Tuesday, May 28. The estimated number of passengers traveling through the Airport is projected to be over 43,000 on Friday, May 24, the single highest day, as compared to an average day of 34,000.

Holiday travel combined with security requirements are expected to further strain Airport facilities. Terminal A will see the greatest impact as nearly 70% of all passenger activity is generated by Southwest or American Airlines. Terminal A facility limitations are expected to create longer than usual lines for ticketing, baggage check, and security checkpoints. It is recommended that passengers arrive in the terminal two hours prior to their departure time.

Parking will be available in the Airport's Long-term and Short-term lots. The Long-term lot is conveniently located on Martin Avenue, which is accessed from Coleman Avenue. Short-term lots are located directly across from Terminals A and C. For parking updates, call (408) 293-6788.

Travelers should be aware of all the new security measures pertaining to travel documents, carry-on items and random personal and baggage searches. For additional information, visit www.sjc.org or call (408) 501-0979.
