New Security Training Programs to be Announced by San Jose Mayor and Police Chief

“San Jose SAFER” – Security Actions for Emergency Readiness –

To strengthen police preparedness for anti-terrorism

 

Event:  San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales and Chief of Police William Lansdowne will announce new training programs in the San Jose Police Department to enhance emergency preparedness and disaster response.

   Background:  Following the September 11 attacks, the City of San Jose has reviewed its existing emergency preparedness programs to identify additional measures to enhance them.  In addition, the City has conducted a security assessment related to public services and facilities as part of its ongoing commitment to planning, training, and preparedness to improve community protection.

 

                          The proposed “San Jose SAFER” program will address training-related steps to further strengthen police emergency readiness.
