City of San José Terrorism Response
Update Response #2

 

·        The San José Police Department’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated.  Personnel from the Police Department, Fire Department, FBI, ATF and other appropriate City and local agencies are staffing the Center.  Specialized units are on standby for deployment if needed.

 

·        All outbound flights from San José International Airport are cancelled.  San José Police Department Airport personnel have evacuated all non-secure areas of the airport.

 

·        The California Highway Patrol has secured all highway entrances to the Airport.

 

·        Police Communications staff are operating on a 12-hour shift.  Inter-agency communications have been activated and are functional.

 

·        San José Fire Department has increased their response staff.

 

·        San José Unified School District has closed all schools.  Other school closures throughout the city have been determined on a case-by-case basis.

 

·        Police Communications advises that they have not seen a notable increase in calls for service.  They have received 5 bomb threats, later proved to be false and one report of threats made to a market specializing in mid-eastern products.

 

·        The Public Health Emergency Operations Center has been activated.  There has not been any unusual hospital activity reported.

 

·        Any stranded passengers needing assistance with lodging should call 1-888-SanJose.
