Application Policies
- Applications (or resumes and cover letters-when applicable) will be time and date stamped immediately upon being received in our office.
- Postmarks will NOT be accepted as proof of timely submission.
- Resumes and/or other documents will not be accepted in lieu of an application.
- Resumes and/or other documents will not be accepted unless otherwise specified on the job announcement.
- Faxed or e-mailed application documents will not be accepted unless otherwise specified on the job announcement.
- When required, Supplemental Questionnaires or other supporting documentation MUST be submitted WITH the application by the Closing date to be considered.
- Notification of exam date, time, and place will be
mailed at least one week prior to the examination. However, because
we cannot guarantee postal delivery, it is
important that applicants call (408) 535-1285 PRIOR to the examination
date if you do not receive a notice.
- All applicants, including City employees, must notify the
Employee Services Department in the event of a change of address
during any phase of the examination process.
Federal law requires all employees to provide verification
of eligibility to work in this country. The City of San José
will not prepare or file a labor condition application with
the Department of Labor.
