The Council of the City of San José convened in Adjourned Regular Session at 9:10 a.m. at the Willows Senior Center, 2175 Lincoln Avenue, San , California.
Present: Council Members - Dando, Diaz, Fiscalini, LeZotte, Powers, Shirakawa, Jr., Woody; Gonzales.
Absent: Council Members - Chavez, Diquisto (both excused)
Vacant: District 4.

(3) Documents submitted by five individuals who addressed Council at the Public Hearing.
Discussion/Action: Mayor Gonzales called to
order the third special public hearing the City Council has held in the
neighborhoods for the purpose of receiving public testimony on the allocation
plan, called the Healthy Neighborhoods Venture Fund, proposed by the City
Administration for allocation of the tobacco settlement funds which the City
will receive. He stated Staff will make a presentation on its proposal for how
the funds should be used, how the criteria should be determined, and how the
funds should be processed. After this meeting, he stated Staff will take all
the comments received from the public hearings thus far and prepare a final
report on the criteria and funding process to be submitted to the City Council
at its next meeting, which has been rescheduled from August 29, 2000 to
September 5, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. due to absences on the Council. Mark Linder,
Director of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services, presented the Staff
recommendations, using a PowerPoint presentation. The following
individuals addressed Council with various comments pertaining to the Healthy

Gonzales stated the
public hearing on
the Healthy Neighborhoods Venture Fund would be continued to the
Council meeting of September 5, 2000. By unanimous consent, the issue was continued
to September 5, 2000. Vote: 8-0-2-0-1. Absent: Chavez, Diquisto. Vacant:
District 4.
ADJOURNMENT
The Council of the City of
San José adjourned at 10:35 a.m. to meet again September 5, 2000, at 1:30 p.m.
in Council Chambers, City Hall, for a continuation of the Public Hearings
on the Healthy Neighborhoods Venture Fund.
