MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL

 

 

SAN JOSÉ, CALIFORNIA                                                               TUESDAY, JUNE 19, 2001

 

The Council of the City of San Jose convened in Adjourned Regular Session at 5:45 p.m., for a joint meeting with the Redevelopment Agency in Council Chambers at City Hall.

 

Present: Council Members:          Campos, Chavez, Cortesé, Dando, LeZotte, Reed, Shirakawa Jr., Williams, Yeager; Gonzales

Absent: Council Members:           Diquisto (excused).

 

ORDERS OF THE DAY

 

Upon motion by Vice Mayor Shirakawa, Jr., seconded by Council Member Chavez and unanimously carried, the Orders of the Day and the Amended Agenda were approved. Vote: 10-0-1-0. Absent: Diquisto.

 

WEST SAN CARLOS

 

7.1       Adoption of resolutions by the City Council and Redevelopment Agency Board approving the Report Accompanying the Ninth Amended West San Carlos Street Redevelopment Plan, and approving an ordinance by the City Council adopting the Ninth Amended West San Carlos Street Redevelopment Plan which extends the eminent domain authority of the Agency through December 31, 2010, and making certain findings. CEQA: Resolution No. 62614.

 

Documents Filed: Memorandum from Redevelopment Agency Executive Director, Susan F. Shick, dated June 19, 2001, recommending the Redevelopment Agency Board and the City Council adopt said resolutions and approve said ordinance.

 

Discussion/Action: William J. Garbett spoke against the proposed action. Upon motion by Council Member Yeager, seconded by Vice Mayor Shirakawa, Jr. and unanimously carried, Resolution No. 70451, entitled: “Resolution of the Council of the City of San José Approving the Report Accompanying the Ninth Amended Redevelopment Plan for the West San Carlos Street Redevelopment Plan”, was adopted; Ordinance No. 26436, entitled: “An Ordinance of the City of San José Approving and Adopting the Ninth Amended West San Carlos Street Redevelopment Plan Which Extends the Eminent Domain Authority of the Agency Through December 31, 2010; and Making Certain Findings”, was passed for publication; and Redevelopment Agency Board Resolution No. 5183 approving the report accompanying the Redevelopment Plan was adopted.

Vote: 10-0-1-0. Absent: Diquisto.

 

THE ALAMEDA

 

7.2       Adoption of resolutions by the City Council and Redevelopment Agency Board approving the Report Accompanying the Tenth Amended The Alameda Redevelopment Plan, and approving an ordinance by the City Council adopting the Tenth Amended The Alameda Redevelopment Plan which extends the eminent domain (including over residential property) authority of the Agency through December 31, 2010, and making certain findings. CEQA: Resolution No. 62613.

Vote: 10-0-1-0. Absent: Diquisto.
