MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL

 

SAN JOSÉ, CALIFORNIA                                                   TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2002

 

The Council of the City of San José convened in adjourned regular session at 5:32         p.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall for a joint meeting with the Redevelopment Agency Board.

 

            Present:         Council Members  -    Campos, Chavez, Cortese, Dando, Diquisto, LeZotte, Reed, Williams, Yeager; Gonzales.

            Absent:          Council Members  -    Shirakawa, Jr. (Excused).

 

7.1       City Council and Agency Board selection of the preferred site for the proposed relocation of the St. James Senior Center, with up to 125 units of senior housing, as 96 N. Second Street (APN: 467-21-013), 82 N. Second Street (APN: 467-21-043), and 70 N. Second Street (APN: 467-21-011), and direction to Agency staff to commence negotiations with the owners of these properties and to conduct other feasibility studies to define the project.             Documents Filed: Memorandum from City Manager Del D. Borgsdorf and Redevelopment Executive Director Susan F. Shick, dated September 24, 2002, recommending the Agency Board and City Council select 96 N. Second Street, 82 N. Second Street, and 70 N. Second Street as the preferred site for the relocation of the St. James Senior Center and a senior housing project with up to 125 units, and direct Agency Staff to commence negotiations with the owners of these projects and to conduct other feasibility studies to define the project.

 

            Discussion/Action: William Garbett spoke on the item. Upon motion by Council Member Chavez, seconded by Council Member Dando, and unanimously carried, the Staff recommendation dated September 24, 2002, was approved. Vote: 10-0-1-0. Absent: Williams.

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

            The Council of the City of San José and the Redevelopment Agency Board adjourned the Joint Redevelopment Agency/ Council meeting at 5:35 p.m.
