SUBJECT: REPORT ON QUOTES FOR IRRIGATION CONTROLLER
REPLACEMENT IN MAINTENANCE DISTRICT #16.
Report on request for quotation and award for the replacement of irrigation controllers in Maintenance District #16 to TruGreen Landcare, Inc., at a total of $235,000.00, including tax, and authorize the Director of General Services to execute the service order.
BACKGROUND
The Department of Transportation has requested the replacement of irrigation controllers for existing landscape areas in Maintenance Assessment District #16, Evergreen Specific Area. The irrigation controllers originally installed in this district are outdated and are not compatible with the Department's Irrigation Management Program, which allows for remote monitoring of weather conditions and adjustment of the irrigation activities according to levels of precipitation, temperature, wind, etc... This upgrade will save water by eliminating unnecessary watering and will also save staff time due to the remote monitoring and radio-controlled operation features.
A Request For Quotation was sent to five (5) vendors on April 16, 2001 and was advertised on-line. Quotes were due on April 27, 2001; only one quote was received. The vendors who received an RFQ package but did not submit a response indicated that they did not have enough staff to complete the work in the time specified. The one quote received was from TruGreen Landcare, San Jose, CA for a total amount of $235,000.00, including tax.
