SUBJECT: AMENDMENT
TO JANITORIAL SERVICES CONTRACT WITH ACME BUILDING MAINTENANCE
Adoption of a resolution authorizing the Director of General Services to execute an amendment to the agreement for janitorial services with Acme Building Maintenance increasing the maximum compensation from $1,841,198 to $1,991,198.
BACKGROUND
On December 19, 2000, Council approved the agreement with Acme Building Maintenance for janitorial services for City facilities with a maximum compensation of $1,841,198. The contract included $170,000 in supplemental work. The estimate was based on prior experience of needing funds for the addition of new buildings, new special events and special cleaning that may be required such as window cleaning.
Since the contract was awarded, the Departments of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services and Airport have indicated a need for janitorial services over and above the original Council award. The Airport needs the ability to request temporary services when they have staff on vacation, sick or vacancies. This is extremely critical during peak travel periods such as Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day and Thanksgiving to mention a few. They estimate their need to be $120,000 per year.
Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services has requested an additional $30,000 in supplemental funds to cover unanticipated set-ups for events and clean up after the events. Therefore, Council approval is required to amend the contract to add $150,000 to the supplemental funds, for a total of $320,000 and a total maximum compensation of $1,991,198.
