SUBJECT:  ADOPTION OF APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AND FUNDING SOURCES RESOLUTION AMENDMENTS IN THE SERVICES FOR REDEVELOPMENT CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND (CITY-SIDE REDEVELOPMENT FUND) FOR THE CONVENTION CENTER CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT WITH A NET IMPACT TO THE FUND OF $800,000

COUNCIL DISTRICT:  City-wide

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council adopt the following Appropriation Ordinance and Funding Sources Resolution amendments in the Services for Redevelopment Capital Projects Fund (City-side Redevelopment Fund):

1.      Increase the Convention Center Capital Improvements project by $800,000.

2.      Increase the estimate for Earned Revenue by $800,000.

BACKGROUND

The Redevelopment Agency has requested City services in the implementation of an Agency project.  These proposed amendments are necessary to account for City-side expenditures on the Redevelopment Agency project.

ANALYSIS

The current Convention Center Capital Improvements project provides for: Convention Center expansion joint capital improvements, a New Facility door for the Civic Auditorium Complex and installation of new fire alarm system and a new sound system for the Convention Center meeting rooms.  With this action, scope of work will be expanded to replace the analog-based sound system with a new fiber optic sound system for the entire Convention Center, including the Exhibit Halls and public spaces.

The source of funding for these services and improvements would be a transfer from the Redevelopment Agency.
