SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AND
FUNDING SOURCES RESOLUTION AMENDMENTS IN THE GENERAL FUND TO REBUDGET FUNDING
FROM 2000-2001 FOR THE ACQUISITION OF BOOKS PROJECT IN THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT
.
COUNCIL
DISTRICT: City-wide
RECOMMENDATION
It is
recommended that the City Council adopt the following Appropriation Ordinance
and Funding Sources Resolution amendments in the General Fund:
1. Increase the Library Capital
appropriation for the Acquisition of Books project in the amount of $621,000.
2. Increase the Beginning Fund Balance by
$621,000.
BACKGROUND
The Acquisition of Books project provides funding for the acquisition of books, periodical subscriptions, and other types of publications.
ANALYSIS
At the end of 2000-2001, the
acquisition of books project had a remaining balance of $621,000. The recommended technical adjustment would
restore these unexpended funds from last fiscal year. One million dollars was allocated for a two-year initiative to
increase the holdings at the Main Library.
Materials are being ordered and processed, and will continue through
fiscal year 2001-2002. This would fund
acquisition of materials including books.
