NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

 

NOTICE OF FINAL DATE FOR FILING ARGUMENTS FOR

AND AGAINST MEASURES, IF ANY, TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE

ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF SAN JOSE ON MARCH 2, 2004

 

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 9286 of the California Elections Code, I have set 5:00 P.M., Monday, December 8, 2003 as the date after which no arguments for or against any Measure which is to be voted upon by the qualified voters of the City of San Jose at the General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 may be submitted for printing and distribution to the voters with the sample ballot for said election.  Submitted arguments may be changed or withdrawn by their proponents until and including Monday, December 8, 2003 at  5:00 P.M.

 

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN:

 

            1.         that no argument shall exceed 300 words in length;

 

            2.         that arguments must be signed and certified in accordance with Sections 9283 and 9600 of the Elections Code;

 

            3.         that an individual voter submitting an argument must be eligible to vote on the measure; and

           

            4.         that, pursuant to Sections 9219 and 9287 of the California Elections Code, if more than one argument for or more than one argument against any City measure is submitted to the City Clerk within the time prescribed, the City Clerk shall select one of the arguments in favor and one of the arguments against the Measure for printing and distribution to the voters.

 

Measures, arguments and impartial analyses will be available for public inspection in the Office of the City Clerk at City Hall, 801 North lst Street, Room 116, during regular business hours as posted from December 9 through December 18, 2003 at 5:00 P.M.
