RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution authorizing the
City Attorney to negotiate and execute a second amendment to the agreement for
consultant services with Spectrum Gaming Group to extend the term of the
agreement through September 30, 2002, and to increase the amount of total
compensation by $116,692.50 to a total amount not to exceed $210,000.
Background
On February 1, 2001, the City Attorney’s Office entered
into an agreement with Spectrum Gaming Group to assist with issues relating to
the Bay 101 and Garden City cardrooms.
Since that time the term of the agreement has been continued, and the
agreement has been amended to modify the scope of services and to increase the
amount of total compensation.
We are requesting authorization
for the City Attorney to negotiate and execute a second amendment to the
agreement with Spectrum Gaming Group for consultant and expert witness
services, to extend the term through September 30, 2002, and to increase the
amount of total compensation by $116,692.50, to a total amount not to exceed
$210,000. This additional cost will be
reimbursed to the City by the cardrooms.
