SUBJECT:     PDC01-09-089.   LOCATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF MCLAUGHLIN AVENUE APPROXIMATELY 140 FEET SOUTHERLY OF STORY ROAD.

RECOMMENDATION

 

The Planning Commission voted 6-0-1 (Chun Hoo, absent) to recommend that the City Council adopt an ordinance to approve the subject rezoning. 

 

BACKGROUND

 

On December 12, 2001, the Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider a Planned Development  from A(PD) and R-1-8 Residence District to A(PD) Planned Development Zoning District to allow up to 130 multi-family attached residential units on 1.84 gross acres.

 

The Director of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement recommended approval of the proposed .

 

The proposed project was considered as a consent calendar item. There was no discussion by the Planning Commission.  No one from the public spoke in favor of or in opposition to the project.

 

The Planning Commission then closed the public hearing.

 

PUBLIC OUTREACH

 

A community meeting for the project was held on Monday, November 19, 2001 at the Santee Elementary School Cafeteria.  Attendees generally expressed support for the project although some residents expressed concern about traffic.

 

Notices of the public hearing before the Planning Commission and City Council were published, posted on the City of San Jose web site and distributed to the owners and tenants of all properties located within 1,000 feet of the project site.  Additionally, a Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration was mailed to all properties within 1,000 feet of the project site and posted on the City web site.  Staff has been available to discuss the project with members of the public.

 

COORDINATION

 

This project was coordinated with the Department of Public Works, Fire Department, Police Department, and the Environmental Services Department.
