SUBJECT:     MODULAR PARKING OFFICE STRUCTURE FOR - NORMAN Y. MINETA SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

COUNCIL DISTRICT:  Citywide

RECOMMENDATION

Report on bids and award of contract for the Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport – Modular Parking Office Structure to the low bidder, Brandall Modular Corporation in the amount of $115,800, and approval of a contingency in the amount of $12,000.

BACKGROUND

The Airport busing operations and administration offices are currently located in the southeast corner of the Airport, while the bus storage yard is located over a mile north of the operations office.  This negatively affects the bus operations at the Airport.   A solution was developed to relocate the bus storage yard and bus operations office to a single site in an open area south of Terminal C.  The Airport would install modular buildings for the bus operation offices in this consolidated location.  Efficiencies in busing operations can be attained through this project, as well as providing flexibility in moving the operations as a unit if required during phased development of the Airport.

Construction is scheduled to begin in May with completion in August.
