AND
REHABILITATION OF CLARIFIER TANKS
Report on Request for Quotation for coating and rehabilitation of clarifier tanks and approval of award to the low price quote, Certified Coatings of California (Concord, CA) for a total cost of $259,000 including tax and freight, and authorize the Director of General Services to execute the service order.
BACKGROUND
The Environmental Services Department, Water Pollution Control Plant Division, has requested cleaning and coating of two clarifier tanks. The required service is part of an ongoing maintenance program for clarifier tanks.
A request for quotation was issued on April 9, 2003, and sent to five painting contractor vendors. On April 23, 2003, four quotations were received and are listed in the table below:

Contract compliance determination OEA# 6172: Prevailing Wage Policy Only. Prevailing wages will be required on this service order.
This recommendation is scheduled to be presented to the Treatment Plant Advisory Committee (TPAC) on June 12, 2003.
This Request for Quotation was advertised on the City of San Jose web site.
COORDINATION
The memorandum has been coordinated with the City Attorney’s Office, Office of Equality Assurance, the City Manager’s Budget Office and Environmental Services Department/Water Pollution Control Plant.
COST IMPLICATION
This action is consistent with the Council approved Budget Strategy Memo, General Principle #2, “We must focus on protecting our vital core city services”.
