To provide additional information after bids were opened.
Report on bids and award of contract for the Saratoga Creek and Wallenberg Parks Play Area and Restroom Renovation Projects to the low bidder, JFC Construction, Inc., to include the base bid and Add Alternates No. 1 and 2, in the amount of $676,710, and approval of a contingency in the amount of $100,000.

The low bid submitted by JFC Construction is 20
percent below the Engineer's Estimate. The bid is considered acceptable for the
work involved in the proposed project.
Council Policy provides for a standard contingency of fifteen percent on building renovation projects. This project includes both construction and renovation of restroom buildings and parks. The standard contingency is appropriate for this project.

3. SOURCE OF FUNDING: 471 - Parks and Recreation Bond Projects Fund
4. FISCAL IMPACTS: This project is consistent with the Council-approved Budget Strategy Economic Recovery section in that it will spur construction spending in our local economy. It provides for the renovation of the existing play area and, therefore, will have a negligible impact on the operating budget.
