
A Summary of the Zoning Code and Blight Code Regulating Home Auto Repair
Types of repairs allowed- Only minor repairs such as an oil change, tire repair, small
part change, or minor routine maintenance may be performed. NO engine/transmission
rebuilding, bodywork, painting, or other major repairs are allowed.
Area(s) where repairs may be performed-Limited to the driveway or garage; at no time
can repairs be made on the lawn, sidewalk, parkstrip (area between the street and
sidewalk) or the street.
Vehicles to be repaired-Must be registered to residents of the home or dwelling where
the work takes place.
Time allowed to complete the repairs-Maximum 72 hours ( 3 days); if the repairs will
take longer than 72 hrs, store the vehicle in a garage or approved accessory structure out
of public view.
Disposal of hazardous materials-Do not dump oil, gasoline, and other hazardous waste
into the ground or storm drain. Call 299-7300 for more information on the proper
disposal of hazardous waste.
Storage-Inoperable vehicles may be stored in the driveway for a maximum of 72 hrs (3
days). At no time can an inoperable vehicle be stored on the street. Car parts, tools, tires,
etc. may not be stored in the driveway or anywhere in the front setback/yard area that is
within public view.
Vehicle sales-Limited to two (2) per calendar year, and must be registered to a resident
of the home or dwelling where they are being sold. Vehicles with For Sale signs may
only be parked in the driveway; never on the front lawn, sidewalk, parkstrip or on any
City street.
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE
REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN
FINES/PENALTIES UP TO $2,500 PER DAY.
