TO: PROSPECTIVE CONSULTANTS

SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE COYOTE VALLEY SPECIFIC PLAN LAND PLANNING/URBAN DESIGN

On behalf of the City of San Jose, the Department of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement is seeking experienced and qualified consultants to conduct land planning and urban design for a 7,000-acre area of mostly undeveloped land in the southern reaches of San Jose known as Coyote Valley. The products of this effort would include a specific plan, design guidelines, zoning district(s) and other documents. The specific plan should provide a realistic and feasible guide to the development of this area to a highly livable mixed-use urban community with a variety uses including housing, parks and open space, commercial, and industrial. The land planning/urban design should be completed before December 2005.

We encourage your firm to submit a proposal. Firms may bid individually, or as part of a consultant team. The deadline for submitting proposals to the Department of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement is Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 5:00 p.m.
