Welcome! Thank you for your interest in "1,000 Hearts for 1,000 Minds", where compassionate adults can improve the academic skills of young students in San Jose.

What is "1,000 Hearts for 1,000 Minds"?
A joint effort by Councilmember Sam T. Liccardo and Silicon Valley Leadership Group President/CEO Carl Guardino, "1,000 Hearts for 1,000 Minds" is an initiative launched in March 2011 to connect 1,000 caring adults with 1,000 students grade levels K-8 to improve their literacy, math, and science skills.

We want to make it easy for prospective volunteers by assisting in removal of any barriers and help identify convenient locations and programs for volunteering.

Minimum Volunteer Requirements:
- One hour per week for 8-10 weeks
- Fingerprinting / TB test required for most partner organizations
*Independent Tutoring Opportunities are also available.

Please visit the program website or contact Jennifer Kim Luc at 408-535-4928 to sign up and volunteer.
