Rose White & Blue Brochure - (click to download)

Everyone loves a Parade and you are invited to join in!  Enjoy a family holiday filled with History, Patriotism and Roses! Parades on The Alameda started with the Carnival of Roses in 1896 and continued with The Fiesta de Las Rosas Parade in the 20's. Delve into the history of The Alameda as community groups come together to restore the pleasure of an old-fashioned family-style 4th of July.  Enjoy the excitement of floats, bands, an old-fashioned calliope, marching units of Boy and Girl Scouts, kids and pets, antique cars with local dignitaries and dance troupes.

The street festival at the conclusion of the parade will feature food booths, a jumphouse, carnival booths, dunk tank and items for sale and will benefit community non-profit groups. Learn about rose culture and have a chance to vote for your favorite rose. Spend the morning enjoying the parade and have fun and food at the festival in the early afternoon.

Please come out, enjoy the fun, and support the local neighborhood kids! Remember money spent at the festival will all go to the local non-profit groups running the booths!

Parade Route

The parade will start at the Lincoln High School parking lot and end at the parking lot behind Westminster Presbyterian Church at the corner of Hanchett Avenue and The Alameda.

28th Annual Italian Family Festa

Location:  Downtown Willow Glen, Lincoln Ave & Willow St., San Jose

Come to Downtown Willow Glen for the the 28th annual Italian American Heritage Foundation's Italian Family Festa! The popular Italian Family Festa is the oldest and largest event of its kind on the West Coast. The Festa has shared the full richness of being "Italian" with hundreds of thousands of patrons. It has become a superb showcase in the folklore of glorious Italy, with its Italian Village atmosphere, food, costumes, art and photo exhibits, games, and musical entertainment.

Its purpose was to honor the City of San Jose during the 1977 Bicentennial celebration. It was the first ethnic festival to be held in downtown San Jose. Our Festa helped to identify San Jose as the "City of Festivals" and as a diverse ethnic community that promotes the achievements of many cultures. This inspired a number of ethnic organizations to hold their festivals in downtown San Jose and influenced their festival formats.

Featured at the Festa is the pony-drawn San Jose Italian Festa Cart which is covered with paintings and sculpture of San Jose history. The Festival also includes a grape-stomping contest, children’s games, a Tarantella contest, dancing, and much to be announced later. An essential part of our Festa deals with the promotion of Italian culture, and that includes food. Eentertainment includes local performers who perform some non Italian music, songs and dances. Varied arts and crafts vendors sell products representing many ethnic cultures.
