WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

6th annual "walk to bring awareness" supporting

Sexual Assault Awareness Month, benefiting the YWCA's Rape Crisis Center. Male community leaders and residents are asked to walk (in women's shoes) from Plaza de Cesar Chavez (in downtown San Jose) through the streets of downtown—less than a mile—to call awareness to the problem of sexual assault in our community.

This is a lighthearted way to approach a very serious issue that is the responsibility of us all.

in Celebration of
New Playground Equipment

Hester Park

Hester Park originally opened in 1996.

The Park is adjacent to the Rose Garden
Library and is used by many residents. The $218,000 renovation project replaced the old playground equipment and surfacing to meet the current guidelines for accessibility and safety.

Hester Park is the only park in the Rose Garden & Shasta/Hanchett neighborhoods that has play equipment for young children to play on.

“I am very pleased that Hester Park is re-opened for the community,” stated Councilmember Pierluigi Oliverio.  “The new play equipment is long over due and will serve the children well.
