VACC Nomination
Through Councilmember Madison P. Nguyen’s leadership, the San Jose City Council approved $2.8 million dollars in capital funding to finance the design, implementation and masterplan of a proposed Vietnamese American Community Center.
The objective of the Vietnamese American Community Center is to provide a broad range of youth and adult classes, senior services, and art and cultural programming to serve the Vietnamese American community, and the community at large. The City of San Jose will provide capital funding to assist with site development or renovation. However, the future facility will be operated and maintained by a non-profit organization.
The proposed Vietnamese American Community Center will be recognized as a focal point, not only for the City of San Jose, but for the state and the nation. Therefore, it is important that we have collaborative participation and involvement of the entire community.
We are looking for Advisory Board Members to assume responsibility for fundraising and to provide direction on the master plan, design, and implementation of the future Vietnamese American Community Center. We hope you will nominate individuals who are committed to take on this responsibility and who are fluent in both Vietnamese and English. With your help, we will create a special place for everyone to enjoy.
Nominations are due by 5pm on Friday, August 31, 2007. For more information, please call (408) 535-4907 or district7@sanjoseca.gov.
