Upcoming Neighborhood Clean Up Day

 

This Neighborhood Clean Up is sponsored by the City of San José.

It is time to clean out your closets, basements and garages! Help us keep our neighborhoods clean and safe.

Current Clean-Up dates are for residents that reside in:

  • Roberts / Walnut Woods / Kennedy  
    Saturday, September 6th, 2008 from 8:00a.m. – 11:00 a.m. or UNTIL BINS ARE FULL

  • Meadows / Yerba Buena / Summerside  
    Saturday, September 27th, 2008 from 8:00a.m. – 11:00 a.m. or UNTIL BINS ARE FULL

 

Our office will distribute flyers in these neighborhoods two weeks prior to Clean Up Day.

Please show the flyer to the bin monitor in order to be allowed to use the dumpsters on Neighborhood Clean Up Day.

Useful Information:

  • Bring large items early and please break up bulky items before you arrive at the bin site
  • The bin locations extend beyond the address listed
  • Due to the popularity of clean up events, there may be lines at certain bin locations
  • This clean up event will be held Rain or Shine
  • This event is for Household use only and not for commercial use
  • To report Abandoned Shopping Carts in your neighborhood, please call the City of San José Customer Service Call Center at 535-3500. Please give exact address/location where cart is abandoned.
  • Tires: Should be smaller than 33/12.5 x 15 and a limit of four (4) per household
  • Rock Bin accepts the following only: Clean concrete, brick, rock, and cinder block. Unacceptable items include: Rebar and other metal reinforcements and dirt
  • Wood Bins accepts the following only: Lumber, Fencing, Wood, Logs, and Branches w/no leave. Unacceptable items include: Particle Boards, Laminate Counter Tops, Hardware, Glass, and Branches with leaves.
  • (Particle Boards, Laminate Counter Tops, Hardware and Glass are acceptable at the rubbish bins)

Please Note :

Bin locations and times of delivery are subject to change.

Follow the directions of the bin monitors, for the safety of everyone.

Please show the flyer to the bin monitor, to be allowed to use the dumpsters.

Do not place items outside of the dumpsters or at the dumpster location before they arrive.

 

THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT ACCEPTED AT THE CLEAN UP SITES:

 

  • Recyclable items, such as glass, cans, newspaper or cardboard; these items can be recycled with regular waste disposal service
  • Wet household garbage, Dirt, Yard Waste, and Human Waste
  • Gas cylinders and tanks, such as propane or helium
  • Gas powered motors, such as lawn mowers, WITH FLUIDS (gas and oil)

For “FREE” disposal of hazardous materials, paint, gasoline, chemicals, batteries (car, alkaline and lithium), fluorescent lighting, pressurized tanks, such as propane, helium, and fire extinguishers.
