Job Opportunity for Youth Activities Supervisor
Community United San José is hiring a supervisor for youth activities at the Alma Youth Center. The person applying for this job should like to do physical activity, sports and enjoy working with youth ages 8-18 years old. Someone who is working with youth now and needs additional hours or someone who has experience working in youth centers would be preferred but not required. Training will be provided. This is a paid, part-time position, 3 hours a day from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., starting at five days a week with extended hours over the summer.

The Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival Promises new commitments to Jewish cinema in the South Bay and now in its 19th year, the San José Jewish Film Festival has been reinventing itself. Reflecting the growth of the region, as well as the year-after-year expansion of the Film Festival programming, the SJJFF changed its name to the Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival (SVJFF). New App for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
New app, PTSD Coach, was designed for veterans and military service members who have, or may have Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This app provides users with education about PTSD, information about professional care, a self-assessment for PTSD, opportunities to find support and tools that can help users manage the stresses of daily life with PTSD. Tools range from relaxation skills and positive self-talk to anger management and other common self-help strategies. This app can be used by people who are in treatment as well as those who are not. PTSD Coach was created by VA's National Center for PTSD and DoD's National Center for Telehealth & Technology.

408 Area Code Overlay
To accommodate the demand for telephone numbers, the 669 area code is being added to the area served by the 408 area code. Customers will not be required to change their existing telephone numbers, but consumers calling any number in the 408 area code will have to dial the area code plus phone number. There will be a 6 month grace period for calls to go through but after October 20, 2012, the new dialing procedure must be used.

Achieve Dance Arts Academy Summer Camp Enrollment Now Available
Since the Achieve Dance Arts Academy moved to the Aborn facility, 2726 Aborn Road, there are many new students that have joined from several dancing programs. In addition to ballet, folk dance and hip hop programs, they have expanded the programs to Latin, tap, zumba and exercise dancing, and they are currently working on adding social dance programs for adults.
The Achieve Dance Arts Academy is also providing professional venues for your parties, ceremonials and meetings.

Simply enter your street number and zip code in the online form. For residents who are unable to access their schedule online, call the Customer Contact Center at (408) 535-3500.

Keeping San José Clean is Now Just a Click Away
The Anti-Graffiti and Anti-Litter Program have launched a free application called San José Clean. This App allows residents with smartphones to point, click and send photos of graffiti, litter and City park conditions. Along with the pictures, users can provide a brief description of the violation to assist staff who will be assigned to address the request and choose an option to receive status updates. This application is available as both a Droid and iPhone application. Residents still have the option to report graffiti directly to the Anti-Graffiti Program by email antigraffiti@sanjoseca.gov or by phone at(866) 249-0543. Litter can be reported by email to antigraffiti@sanjoseca.gov or by phone at (408) 277-3208. City park conditions can be reported by email to park.concerns@sanjoseca.gov or by phone at (408) 793-5510. |
