Rabia Chaudhry
Chief of Staff |
Rabia Chaudhry joined the District 8 Council Office in August 2001. She holds a dual degree in Political Science and English from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is the lead contact for City Budget, VTA, ABAG, SCCCA & JPC, Land use issues, Redevelopment and Downtown, Public Safety (Police and Fire), and Evergreen-East Vision Strategy. Rabia was born and raised on Long Island, New York and before joining the City of San Jose, she worked for the City of New York at Yankee Stadium. She resides with her husband, Muhammed, in south San Jose.

Toni Stangel

Toni Stangel joined the District 8 staff in January of this year and serves as Executive Assistant and Scheduler to the Vice Mayor. She is a native Californian who has lived in San Jose for over 20 years. Toni has worked for the City of San Jose in the Office of Emergency Services, Public Works and as an Executive Assistant to the Deputy City Manager for the Strong Neighborhood Initiative. Prior to coming to the City she worked for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. |
The-Vu Nguyen

The-Vu Nguyen joined the District 8 Council Office in 2003. A graduate of Evergreen Valley College and San Jose State University, he holds a master’s degree in Spiritual Human Yoga. The-Vu's work areas include ethnic outreach, neighborhood organizing, school safety, library issues, senior issues, and neighborhood clean-ups. The-Vu is the founder and president of the Vietnamese American Community Action Team (VACAT) and works extensively with the Vietnamese American Community on issues such as gang prevention, truancy and wellness.

Michelle Pelayo

Michelle Pelayo joined the District 8 Council Office in September 2005. She graduated from the National Hispanic University with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis in cross cultural studies. Her work areas include: School Safety, Code Enforcement, Traffic Calming, Day in the Park, Farmer’s Market, Community Health, Ethnic Chambers, and Education. Outside of City Hall, Michelle is active with the well-known civil rights organization, “The League of United Latin American Citizens” where she currently serves as National Vice President for Young Adults. She enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Bushra Rasheed

Bushra Rasheed joined the District 8 office in November 2005. She is a recent graduate from San Jose State University with a BS in Criminal Justice and a background in Forensic Science emphasis in Biology. She is currently the lead contact for; Ethnic Outreach, Youth Commission, D8 YAC, After school Programs, Homework Centers, City Council Agenda, D8 Website, "Carry the Vision" - Non Violence Conference, Commendations/ Ceremonial Items, Animal Control, and Code Enforcement. She grew up in the Evergreen area of District 8 and currently resides there. When she isn't in the office, Bushra's interests and hobbies include baseball (Let's Go A's!), traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Mark Tiernan

Mark Tiernan joined the District 8 Council Office in September of 2007. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in American History. Mark is also a June 2007 graduate of Lincoln Law School of San Jose. With a background in public and private sector purchasing management, his work areas will include Media Relations; the Sunshine Reform Task Force; Transportation and Environment; Public Safety, Finance and Strategic Support Committee; and Code Enforcement. Outside of City Hall, Mark and his wife Carolyn enjoy traveling, going to 49er games and spending time at their family ranch which has been in the family for 125 years.

Mike Donohoe

Mike Donohoe joined the District 8 Staff in April 2008 after serving as a volunteer since December 2007. Mike has an MBA from Santa Clara University. He has served in the Real Estate Industry for many years as a volunteer including President of they Santa Clara County of REALTORS® in 2003. Mike also was a founding member of the Evergreen Real Estate Marketing Association. Mike works in the area of land use, budget and development policy. He loves Evergreen and has spent 30 years in the district where he bought his first home in 1978. He resides there with his wife of 30 years and has two children attending Santa Clara University where his wife is a Professor. His special interests are Yoga (which keeps him in good shape) and eating great foods (which makes the Yoga very important). |
