San Jose International Airport Begins Vehicle
Inspections
at Terminal A Short-Term Parking Garage,
Terminal
C Short-Term Parking Lot Reduced to 50 Percent
San Jose, CA – San Jose International Airport has begun
inspecting every vehicle at the entrances to the short-term parking
garage at Terminal A. Parking
at the short-term lot across from Terminal C has been reduced to 550
spaces. As an increased
security measure, these procedures will remain in effect indefinitely.
The following security measures are
still in effect to maximize airport safety at San Jose International
Airport:
·
No curbside baggage check-in.
·
Unattended vehicles will be towed away immediately.
·
No sharp objects of any kind including, but not limited
to, pocket knives, scissors, carpet cutters, folding or retractable
blades, will be permitted beyond the checkpoints.
·
Only ticketed passengers allowed past security
checkpoints.
·
Photo I.D. will be required at multiple locations.
·
There will be an increased presence of uniformed police.
·
Passengers must closely control baggage and packages to
avoid transporting items without
their
knowledge.
·
Unattended bags are subject to inspection.
With a shortage of airport parking spaces,
travelers are asked to plan ahead and take advantage of the following
recommendations:
- Use an alternate means of transportation such as door-to-door shuttles, limousines, taxi
services, and friends and relatives. The free VTA Airport Flyer runs
between the Santa Clara Caltrain station and the Metro/Airport Light
Rail station and operates daily from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, every 10
minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes until 7:00 p.m. on
weekends. For schedule
information, call VTA at 408-321-2300 or Caltrain at 800-660-4287.
·
Use
the new alternate passenger drop-off zone on the west
side of the Airport on Martin Avenue, accessible from Coleman Avenue or
De La Cruz Boulevard. The
drop-off zone is located directly across from 310 Martin Avenue near
Long-Term Parking. Travelers
can access a free shuttle to Terminals A and C, with pick-ups every 5
minutes. The ride takes 15 minutes.
The Martin Avenue drop-off zone operates 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
·
If it is absolutely essential to drive a personal car, plan
extra time to find a parking space in the event that the long-term parking lot is full.
To avoid possible traffic congestion at Airport entrances, use
Martin Avenue at De La Cruz Boulevard to enter the long-term parking
lot. Updated Airport parking information is available by calling
408-293-6788.
·
Off-Airport
parking is available at Park, Shuttle and Fly on Newhall Street off Coleman
Avenue. For information,
call 408-295-5300. De La
Cruz Parking is another nearby long-term parking facility located at
2752 De La Cruz Boulevard (directly off Highway 101).
For information, call 408-988-3403.
·
Arrive at the Airport at least 2 hours prior to
domestic flight departures and 3 hours prior to international flights
to allow time for parking, luggage check-in, security screening and gate
arrival.
