POLICE DATA SPECIALIST II (PART TIME) (1184)
CLASS PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs specialized technical work utilizing
automated law enforcement systems, including complex data input and
retrieval
processes requiring extreme accuracy. Performs related work as required.

duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Incumbents of this class are responsible for accurately processing varied
police reports and identification information, utilizing a full range of
specialized
automated and manual information systems.
The focus of this class
is to provide technical information, which requires extensive training in
specialized
computer systems.
This class differs from Police Data
Specialist
I in that incumbents of the latter class perform in a learning capacity.
This
class differs from that of Police Specialist
Supervisor in that the
latter is
responsible for all functions and supervision of staff on an assigned shift.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Knowledges, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Police Department report maintenance systems and office
practices.
- Ability to input, update, retrieve and release data, and to identify and
extract vital information quickly and accurately, utilizing multiple
automated and
manual law enforcement data systems.
- Ability to apply standard policies and procedures accurately to answer
questions and resolve problem situations.
- Ability to apply information in manuals and regulations pertaining to the
criminal justice system.
- Ability to type at a net rate of 45 words per minute.
Competency Knowledges, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of a variety of code languages used in automated police data
systems.
- Ability to use data systems and electronic data processing equipment.
- Ability to perform specialized law enforcement data processing and
identification work.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others.
Training And Experience
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of
high school and one (1) year of experience in which the major assignment was
the entry
and retrieval of law enforcement data and identification
information through a full range of automated police information systems.
