ACCOUNT CLERK I (1211)
CLASS PURPOSE
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
Performs routine clerical duties involving arithmetic calculations such as checking and balancing simple accounts and posting data to various accounts.
Performs basic arithmetic calculations.
Participates in preparing personnel payroll, time cards or shift changes by preparing cards, entering changes affecting status or amount, computing net changes or charges and tabulating.
Participates in inventory, records of supplies, filing of fiscal-related documents and general office duty.
Accepts payments, writes receipts and deposit slips, operates a variety of office machines suchas typewriter, calculator, cash register and check protector machines.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to apply basic arithmetic and other clerical skills to routine accounting clerical procedures.
Ability to learn and apply basic principles and practices of bookkeeping and related fiscal practices.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships, to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to type at a net rate of 35 WPM.
Competency Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of basic, simple bookkeeping and accounting clerical practices and principles.
Ability to make rapid and accurate calculations on adding machines or calculators.
